There are two kinds of material which is widely used as LED light housing.
Die-casting Aluminum alloy, or called injection AL alloy.
Extrusion aluminum alloy.
What is the difference for them?
Die-casting/Injection aluminum alloy, this kind of aluminum alloy is ADC12. this kind of alloy is not so high purity than extruted aluminum alloy; and this is always used as the LED driver housing part of the lamp body.
For heat sink, better to use extruted aluminum alloy, with better heat dissipation ability, more efficiently reduce the heat generated by LED chips, and enlong its lifespan.
Die-casting aluminum alloy comes with SMD or COB LED chips.
Extrution aluminum alloy also comes with SMD or COB LED chips, but there is no module design heat sink made by die-casting aluminum alloy in the market.
The cost difference for die-casting and extruted aluminum alloy: extruted aluminum alloy is more expensive. As the purity is higher.
